About

BBL Drizzy is a rap song made by American hip-hop producer Metro Boomin and distributed on Soundcloud free for other rappers to use in May 2024. BBL Drizzy, which notably references the BBL Drake meme, participates in the ongoing Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake beef as an attack against Drake, setting up a competition in which Metro Boomin promised to reward a beat and cash prize to the person who made the best verse to go along with the track.

Origin

The spring of 2024 saw an escalating rap beef feud between Drake and a group of hip-hop artists led by Kendrick Lamar, including Metro Boomin. After Drake told Metro Boomin to "shut up" and "make some drums" in the diss track "Push Ups" released on April 19th, 2024, Metro Boomin dismissed the remark with a series of memes and social media posts in a retort.

On May 5th, 2024, Metro Boomin uploaded the audio track for "BBL Drizzy," a song mocking Drake and making reference to the BBL Drake meme that alleges the Canadian rapper received plastic surgery.[1] Within 24 hours, the audio accumulated over 1.5 million plays and 80,000 likes on Soundcloud (seen below).[3] According to an Instagram Story quoted in Billboard, Drake replied, "You just cheffed a beat about my a–?"[2]

Metro Boomin then posted the track on X / Twitter, announcing a competition in a May 5th post (seen below), which earned over 159,000 likes in less than a day. He promised a free beat to the winner of the competition who made the best song from "BBL Drizzy."[4]
