Mr. Incredible Becoming Old refers to a series of memes based on the Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny format where Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles is shown at various ages next to a variety of things from different periods of time, exaggeratedly representing the age someone might be if they experienced that thing first-hand. The original version of the meme was uploaded to YouTube in January 2022 and inspired new exploitable variants over the course of the month.

Origin

On January 8th, 2022, YouTuber[8] Flent posted a video where Mr. Incredible ages, gaining over 95,000 views in a month (shown below).



On January 29th, 2022, YouTuber[1] ElAlvaro posted a meme showing Mr. Incredible aging next to various gaming consoles, representing the age the viewer might be if their first console was the one shown, gaining over 20,400 views in a week (shown below). This is the earliest known version of the meme.



Spread

The meme inspired new variations over the following days. For example, on January 29th, 2022, YouTuber[2] The Social Credits Boy 🇨🇳 posted a version where Mr. Incredible ages next to memes from various eras, gaining over 23,000 views in a week (shown below).



On February 1st, YouTuber[3] CM posted a version of the meme where Mr. Incredible ages next to "video games you played as a child" and "your first social network," gaining over 338,000 views in three days (shown below, left). On February 2nd, YouTuber[4] ElAlvaro posted another version of the meme using video game consoles, gaining over 108,000 views in two days (shown below, right).



On February 3rd, 2022, YouTuber[5] Brunch posted an extended template for the meme showing Mr. Incredible aging from baby all the way back to an organism, gaining over 48,000 views in a day (shown below).



On the same day, YouTubers[6][7] Flent and Broga used the meme to show Mr. Incredible aging next to a variety of notable events related to internet culture, writing how long ago each happened along with them, gaining over 60,000 and 32,000 views respectively in under 24 hours (shown below, left and right).



Traumatized Mr. Incredible

Traumatized Mr. Incredible refers to a series of comparison memes based on two images of Mr. Incredible, one an official art for The Incredibles 2 and the other a "reverse toonified" and black-and-white version of the character that gives him an expression of a man experiencing emotional pain, similar to Withered Wojak. Starting in September 2021, the format was used together with the caption People Who Don't Know / People Who Know in comparison memes.
